Environmental Policy

Money Controls is an ISO 9001:2000 certified business and believes that minimising environmental impact is completely in accord with 'best practice' for its business. Manufacturing processes and materials are selected with this in mind wherever possible.

WEEE Directive

Money Controls has sought legal and industry advice over the implementation of the WEEE Directive and keeps up-to-date with developments as implementation of the Directive matures. As far as it has been reasonably practical to determine, it is our understanding that the WEEE Directive does not apply to component parts or sub-assemblies. Since our products require integration into end-user products, and it is to these end-user products to which the WEEE Directive applies, it is our belief that the specific requirements of the WEEE Directive do not apply to products manufactured or distributed by Money Controls. However, we are currently carrying out a number of activities to ensure that our products are compliant, for example:

We acknowledge that the underlying intention of the WEEE Directive is to establish end-of-life disposal strategies for products and therefore minimise environmental impact. To this end, Money Controls intends to set up a third-party end-of-life disposal route to assist customers in meeting their obligations under the WEEE Directive.

RoHS Directive

EC Directive 2002/95/EC (Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances – RoHS) came into effect on 1st July 2006. All Money Controls products sold on or after this date comply with the requirements of the Directive. Non-compliant spares, service or upgrade products may continue to be offered to support legacy products.

Validation Methodology

Product compliance is determined in accordance with recommendations given in ERA Report 2005-0425 (ISBN 0 7008 0788 8) based upon receipt and assessment of information submitted by component and raw material suppliers.

Continuing attention is given to the assessment of suppliers of components with a high likelihood of containing one or more restricted substances: pigmented plastics (cadmium), motor casings (chromium), printed circuit boards (lead, PBDE), etc.. However, Money Controls does not conduct routine testing or chemical analysis on incoming materials.

Money Controls will continue to take all reasonable and practicable steps to determine and provide representative and accurate information.

Product Marking

Money Controls does not, generally, apply any form of marking on the final product, packaging or associated documentation to indicate RoHS compliance. Component parts may be renumbered, relabelled, up-issued or identified in some other way to ensure that we can readily identify and use up non-compliant parts. Maintainable parts such as Compact Hopper Discs and Universal Hopper Track-plates have retained their existing colouring for ease of user identification and field maintenance.

Repairs and Returns

Money Controls will continue to recover and reuse materials wherever permissible and possible. The RoHS Directive bans the use of non-compliant components and materials in the manufacture of new products but permits their use in the repair of products placed on the market before 01 July 2006. Over time, we anticipate that it will become increasingly difficult to economically repair or refurbish certain products. Where appropriate, we will exchange or upgrade warranted product deemed to be beyond economic repair. Repair, replacement or exchange of product no longer under warranty will continue to be assessed and quoted separately.

Product Obsolescence

Money Controls has reviewed all product ranges to determine those affected by the introduction of the RoHS Directive. A product obsolescence and migration policy has been established and customers are requested to contact their Sales representative to review their specific requirements.
