Technical Answers

Note/Bill Acceptors

  1. How do I inhibit a banknote on an Ardac WACS or Lumina?

Individual notes may be inhibited via DIL switches on the products. Please refer to the appropriate document Ardac WACS Technical Manual or Lumina Technical Manual for full details.

Coin Acceptors

  1. Which coin sets have been approved for use with Money Controls products?

Each product differs greatly and new coin sets are being qualified and updated continually. You can view the current status by clicking on Coin Sets. If you do not see the coin set you require then please contact the Technical Services department at Money Controls for up-to-date information.

  1. How do I programme a new coin for coin acceptors in the field?

This depends on which Money Controls coin acceptor you own. The following coin acceptors cannot be programmed to accept new coins in the field without the use of either the MP2B or CHP1 programming tool: C12X, C435, C220B, C420, C450 and C455.

The following advanced coin acceptors can be programmed to accept new coins in the field using ccProgrammer, ccTeach or ccEuroTeach programming tools, which maintain data at a high level of security: Condor Plus, SR3, SR5 and SR5R.

These acceptors may also be re-programmed using the 'Teach & Run' function, but this is dependent on the quality of the coins used and is only recommended as a 'quick fix'.

Please refer to the appropriate Technical Manual or contact our Technical Services department for further details.

  1. How do I disable a particular coin from being accepted?

There are a number of ways this can be achieved depending on the type of coin acceptor applicable. For parallel modes the relevant pin is pulled high using the appropriate DIL switch. For acceptors with ccTalk capability, the relevant serial command will inhibit or enable any coin. SR Series acceptors also include a MechTool function with inhibit/enable commands. In all cases, please refer to the appropriate Technical Manual for a step-by-step explanation.

  1. How do I programme for token acceptance?

In C435, Condor Plus, SR3 and SR5 acceptors, tokens can either be programmed as coins, or be programmed in memory designated for token groups. Tokens can be specified when ordering and therefore be programmed in the factory, or they can be programmed in the field using the 'Teach & Run' function, but this is only recommended as a 'quick fix'. Please refer to the appropriate Technical Manual or call the Technical Services department for further details.

  1. I was unsuccessful in programming SR3 coin acceptors - am I doing something wrong?

You are probably connecting the wrong product loom and using the wrong connector. Ensure you are using the SR3 loom, which can only be connected to the product serial connector, and not the SR5 loom which can be incorrectly inserted in the 10 way dil connector. To avoid this error occurring we have taken positive action to clearly label the two looms on new kits, but it is still important that the instructions are read beforehand to avoid mistakes. A further check is to make sure the diagnostic is operating as documented in the SR3 Technical Manual. This is the best way to determine if it is product or operator error.

  1. Which new products have replaced the 'C' series?

The SR Series replaces the 'C' Series. For Features and Benefits please see the SR Series Data Sheet (publication code CA001/A/0202) in the Product Solutions section of this website.

  1. What do the different coloured covers signify on the C435?

Please refer to the document C435 External Build History for full details.

  1. What is the difference between the Condor models?

Please refer to the appropriate document Condor Technical Manual or Condor Plus Technical Manual for full details.

  1. Tokens are not being accepted - what should I do?

First, make sure that the coin acceptor has been programmed for the token in question by checking the label on the reject gate cover - if it has then you should contact the Technical Services department for remedial action.

  1. How can we program and identify more than one coin in the Condor Plus?

Multiple coin (and multiple credit output) variants can be specified for the Condor Plus at the ordering stage. If an additional coin is required at a later stage then it can be programmed using the optional 'Teach & Run' function, which must have been requested at the ordering stage for inclusion. Please refer to the Condor Plus Technical Manual for full details.

  1. Is it possible to sort coins with the Condor Plus?

Yes - Condor Plus has a two-way sorter drive capability used in conjunction with the Condor Diverter.

Hoppers

  1. How do I identify pin 1 on the Compact Hopper?

Pin 1 on the Compact Hopper is the pin nearest the ejector finger and spring.

top

  1. Can I convert my Universal and Compact hoppers to accept a different coin?

Yes to both, but we recommend that the Universal conversion be done by Money Controls. The Universal Hopper uses only two belt sizes to cover most coin sizes, but for extreme sizes and the Euro coin set, three other tracks are now available:

If you wish to convert a Compact Hopper yourself then please specify when ordering the following information for the relevant model:

  1. Is there a formula to calculate the coin capacity of a hopper and can you explain it?

Yes - click on Hopper Coin Capacity Calculator (.zip file - right click and Save Target As...) to activate the calculator. You can select a country and coin to automatically display typical coin capacities for a range of Money Controls hoppers. Alternatively, you can choose to enter your coin/token diameter and thickness dimensions. When done, click on the [Sum] button to calculate and display coin capacities. All coin capacity calculations are subject to a tolerance of ±10% due to random nature of stacking.

top

  1. Is the serial Compact Hopper compatible with the parallel version?

No - the serial Compact Hopper uses the ccTalk protocol, which is incompatible with any parallel protocol.

top

  1. Which coins have been approved for the Gamesman Side-exit and Gamesman Paytrak?

New coin sets are being qualified and updated continually. You can view the current status by clicking on Gamesman and Paytrak Build Numbers and coin range. If you require more information then please contact the Technical Services department at Money Controls for up-to-date information.

top

  1. When I installed ccProgrammer I was prompted for a password - what is it?
